Role Overview
As an Engineer II at American Express, you’ll be at the forefront of our digital transformation journey. You’ll join a dynamic team of high performers, driving innovation in financial products and services.
This role offers the opportunity to develop, deploy, and maintain automation solutions that enhance service standardization and elevate customer care. With a global scope, you’ll play a key role in shaping our long-term business strategy across markets and business units.
Responsibilities
Analysis and Development:
- Analyze requirements/user stories to support design activities.
- Deliver platform automations for internal customers.
Process Assessment:
- Drive process assessments for automation opportunities using intelligent automation technologies.
Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
- Prepare documentation of solutions and coding.
- Create reusable knowledge assets and lead knowledge sharing sessions for team upskilling.
End-to-End Testing and Maintenance:
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, debug, evaluate, modify, and maintain automation solutions.
- Ensure timely completion and quality of deliverables.
Agile Development:
- Function as a development member of an agile team, driving consistent development practices.
- Contribute to discussions about tools, methods, and approaches.
Continuous Support:
- Provide continuous support for ongoing application availability.
- Configure software and equipment, and test platform-specific versions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer science engineering, or related experience required; advanced degree preferred.
- 4-6 years of software development experience in a professional environment or comparable experience.
- Familiarity with Agile or other rapid application development methods.
- Hands-on expertise with Java, Spring, Hibernate, Microservices, and RESTful API development.
- Experience with object-oriented design and coding across multiple platforms and languages.
- Knowledge of SQL/No-SQL databases and complex data structures.
- Familiarity with front-end and back-end technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, .NET, SQL, Python, React, ML, OCR, etc. is a plus.
Qualifications
- Strong work ethic, self-starter mentality, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Quick learner with attention to detail and ability to adapt to new tools and technologies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Experience working with Operations, Business Leaders & Team Leaders preferred.
