Job Description: Application Security Engineer
About the Role
The role of an Application Security Engineer at Flipkart involves performing activities related to security and privacy by design in applications developed by Flipkart. You will integrate security controls throughout the SDLC lifecycle.
The job requires establishing, implementing, monitoring, reviewing, and improving a suitable set of controls to prevent threats to the security of our applications and information assets, ensuring the business objectives of the organization.
Roles & Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Experience Required: 3 to 5 years in web application and mobile application security vulnerability assessment and penetration testing.
- Penetration Testing: Conduct penetration testing for thin & thick client-based applications.
- Security Flaws: Exploit security flaws and vulnerabilities with attack simulations on multiple applications in Android and iOS platforms.
- PoC/Exploits: Develop PoC/exploits for identified vulnerabilities.
- Application Security Testing: Perform security testing of Web, Mobile (Android and iOS), and API.
- Reporting: Prepare final test reports.
- Developer Interaction: Communicate with developers for PoC and support in vulnerability mitigation.
- Security Code Review: Conduct security code reviews for in-house applications.
- Remediation Guidance: Provide guidance to remediate identified vulnerabilities.
- Complex Vulnerabilities: Solve complex vulnerabilities such as business logic flaws and articulate them to both technical and non-technical partners.
Additional Responsibilities
- Red Team Exercises: Experience with red team exercises, threat hunting, and OSINT.
- Threat Modelling: Experience in threat modelling.
- Security Tools: Experience in building security tools.
- OWASP Top 10: Strong understanding of OWASP Top 10.
- Development Experience: Proficiency in one or more of the following technologies: Python, Node/JavaScript, Java, GoLang, PHP.
- Initiative and Attitude: Positive ‘can do’ attitude, determination to succeed, and ability to take initiative.
- Team Player: Good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a complex infrastructure.
