Job Description

The AI Software Solutions Engineer (Kernel Dev) role at Intel is a highly specialized position focused on the analysis and optimization of deep learning (DL) and machine learning (ML) algorithms. As an engineer in this role, you will work with cutting-edge technologies and have the opportunity to shape the future of AI and ML on Intel hardware.

Responsibilities

Algorithm Optimization:

  • Analyze and optimize DL and ML algorithms on current and next-generation Intel hardware and instruction sets.
  • Ensure that algorithms are tailored to leverage the full capabilities of Intel processors, enhancing performance and efficiency.

Kernel and Algorithm Development:

  • Design, develop, and optimize math kernels and algorithms specifically for Deep Learning accelerators.
  • Utilize various compiler infrastructures to ensure that these kernels are highly efficient and effective.

Performance Profiling:

  • Profile distributed algorithms to identify performance bottlenecks.
  • Work closely with individual component teams to propose and implement solutions to these bottlenecks, ensuring optimal performance across the board.

Global Collaboration:

  • Interact with a global implementation team, including deep learning researchers.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

Educational Background:

  • MTech/MS/Bachelor in Computer Science (CS), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), or related fields.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in optimizing software systems for CPUs and GPUs.
  • Proven experience in vector processing and graph-based optimizations.

Skills:

Technical Skills:

  • Strong background in statistics and applied mathematics, particularly as they relate to high-performance computing (HPC) and deep learning problems.
  • Proficiency in coding with C++ and Python, as well as experience with low-level intrinsic.

    Benchmarking:

    • Experience with machine learning and deep learning benchmarking processes and tools is essential for evaluating and improving performance.

    Soft Skills:

    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, cross-geo, startup-like environment.
