General Purpose of the Role
Wärtsilä is looking for a dedicated Project Manager to lead the deployment of Maritime Simulation systems projects. This pivotal role reports directly to the Head of Delivery and involves key relationships with Account Managers, Project Sponsors, the project team, and stakeholders. The Project Manager is responsible for achieving the stated project objectives with appropriate quality and managing the triple constraints of cost, time, and scope. The PM will also perform tasks as a field engineer.
Main Responsibilities:
Project Management
- Work according to Wärtsilä’s Commercial Project Management process, using appropriate tools.
- Assist the Account Manager in preparing competent project offers, focusing on technical solutions, scope of supply, necessary resources for project deployment, schedule, risks, and cost.
- Ensure comprehensive project management from start to finish, including:
- Procurement and contractor management.
- Coordination with operational and logistic departments.
- Planning, verification (FAT, SAT, etc.), and delivery of project scope.
- Scheduling and budget planning and control in cooperation with the financial department.
- Managing project communications, including expectations, tasks, needs, and progress reports to the project team and stakeholders.
- Risk planning, assessment, and control with pre-emptive and corrective actions.
- Identifying and resolving issues and conflicts within the project team.
- Managing project dependencies and critical paths.
- Proactively handling changes in project scope, schedule, and cost, and devising contingency plans.
- Escalating changes that affect project cost or payment milestones to the Project Sponsor and planning countermeasures.
- Closing projects, conducting evaluations, and reporting successful and unsuccessful elements for the knowledge base.
Field Engineering and Technical Support
- Performing allocated works: installation, participation in FAT/SAT, local coordination with customers and other suppliers.
- Preparing and reviewing project technical specifications and scope of supply.
- Identifying and evaluating technical solutions, preferred models, and vendors for third-party equipment.
- Providing customer support via email, phone, and on-site, and participating in customer visits.
- Performing quality control of completed jobs.
- Continuously improving professional competence.
- Adhering to health and safety requirements of Wärtsilä and/or local regulations.
- Following Quality Management system requirements.
Education and Experience
- Degree: Engineering degree in Electronics/Computer Science/IT
- Experience: 8-10 years of relevant experience

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work and deliver results remotely with minimal supervision
- Results-focused with a strong sense of ownership
- Good command of English (written and verbal)
- Ability to perform under pressure
